Prairie Fuel Advisors (PFA) is a unique organization that offers a total fuel management program to members that includes lower prices, advanced price change notices, price maintenance, invoicing and fuel cost tracking.

PFA is specifically designed to assist all municipalities, school divisions and related municipal organizations in managing their fuel purchases. Under the program, PFA members are able to combat the one-sided pricing advantages enjoyed by petroleum producers and purchase fuel at a lower cost all while supporting local fuel dealers.

PFA staff has extensive experience in working with municipal organizations, fuel suppliers and in negotiating fuel supply contracts. This experience, combined with PFA skilled management and cutting edge technology, has allowed PFA to successfully reduce members cost and provide clients with peace of mind.

It's as easy as ...

How the PFA program works

For both the bulk fuel and cardlock/keylock programs, the process is simple and straight-forward.

  1. As a PFA member, you call your local agent of an approved supplier who delivers the fuel
  2. PFA receives the invoice from the supplier, processes them and re-invoices you through your local association
  3. PFA then pays the supplier in advance of member payment – ensuring there is no break in the supply chain
  4. After receiving your invoice, you directly pay your local association

A retail credit card program is also available under PFA, with a similar billing/payment process, but fuel being accessed from any Fas Gas or RaceTrac retail outlet.

Why it works

The PFA program works because of the benefits of volume purchasing and professional management – including price, payment terms and delivery. Further, PFA uses the latest technology to provide clients with up-to-date information on invoice values, price discrepancies, past pricing and future pricing estimates.

How much does it cost?

Nothing. That’s right. There is no cost to join or leave the PFA program, however, you must be a members of one of PFA’s partner associations in either BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan or Manitoba.
